Abstract
855,513. Resistors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 16, 1957 [May 17, 1956], No. 15572/57. Divided out of 855,512. Class 37. A resistor element comprises a block of resistive material having separate contact surfaces formed by metallized coatings and a covering of electrical insulating material on part of the remaining surface of the block intermediate said metallized coating and overlapping the edges of the coating so that they have exposed central regions to which contact may be made. As shown, each element comprises a cylinder 50 of resistive material having metallized contact surfaces 51 and a moulded covering 52 of epoxy resin or butyl rubber. A number of such elements connected in series by metal plates 53 may have a common insulating covering 52. Spark gaps may replace the plates 53. Each cylinder 50 may be hollow, the bore being filled with the dielectric material whilst moulding the same material around the outside to form the covering 52.
