Abstract

1,239,664. Electric insulators. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 9 April, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 18079/69. Heading H2C. An electrical insulator of the cap and pin type carries at least one movable cleaning element 3 arranged to move with the wind in contact with an upwardly-facing surface of the plate 1. The movable element may be a ring of thermoplastics or elastomeric material or a wind wheel (Fig. 2, not shown) having wings (7) attached to a ring (6) freely movable around a cap, the lower edges of the wings having a contour corresponding to the surface in contact. The lower edge of the ring 3 or the wings of the wind wheel may be toothed. Alternative embodiments of the movable element involve a tape attached to a toroidal tube or a slotted toroidal tube placed over a ring. In a further embodiment, strips of insulating material attached to the lower side of a first insulator element wipe the upward surface of a second insulator element.
