Abstract

1,184,056. Fuses. JOHNSON, MATTHEY & CO. Ltd. 17 March, 1967 [20 May, 1966], No. 22585/66. Heading H2G. A fuse comprises a conductive layer having a region of increased resistance and sandwiched between two insulating layers. The conductive layer may be a coating applied to the surface of one of the insulating layers. For high-rating fuses the insulating layers may be of mica, glass or ceramics with a film of silver particles or flakes mixed with up to 10%, and preferably 5%, by weight of glass particles in an organic binder fired on to one layer. For low-rating fuses the film may be applied as an air-drying paste of silver particles or flakes and a cellulose material e.g. ethylcellulose, to paper or plastics. The carrier may be epoxy resin.
