855,435. Variable pitch propellers. VOLKSWERFT STRALSUND VEB. May 27, 1958, No. 16842/58. Class 114. In means for shifting the blades of propellers with the aid of a longitudinally movable shifting spindle 3 and a coaxial electric motor 4, which means lie in a hollow coupling 2 of the propeller shaft 1, the spindle 3 is mounted in self-locking fashion in a threaded nut 14 rotatable by the motor 4 through an elastic coupling 6 and coaxial toothed wheel gearing 8, 9, 11, 12, the spindle having a projecting part 16 with grooves 17 engaging a part 18 on a cage 10 firmly connected to the coupling 2. A member 21 follows the movement of spindle 3 and indicates the position of the propeller blades. Through electric leads not shown, stops 22 actuate end shut off switches of motor 4.
