Abstract

1,106,586. Variable pitch propeller. R. FRIAS. 20 Sept., 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 41931/66. Heading B7V. An automatic pitch control device for the propeller of a motor boat comprises an adaptor 27 fixedly attached to the splined end of propeller shaft 5, a longitudinally slidable propeller hub 4 biased by spring 8 against the shoulder of washer or stop 20 and capable of being given forceful movement to abut against stop 21, and propeller blades 1 rotatably mounted by roots 2 on the shaft 5, each having attached to them by link 22 a cam follower 3 which moves in cam way (6), Fig. 2 (not shown). The washer and adapter are secured to the propeller shaft by nut 23 and a bellows type seal 9 is provided between adapter flange 10 and the propeller hub 4.
