Abstract

855,264. Capacitors, multiple units. BOSCH G.m.b.H., R. March 3, 1959 [March 4, 1958], No. 7273/59. Class 37 A capacitor assembly for transient current discharges comprises a plurality of series connected self-sealing spirally wound capacitors 11, each having an inner winding diameter at least 40 % of its outer winding diameter; the capacitors being coaxially arranged in a casing 10 and having abutting end surfaces resiliently connected to each other. Five such capacitors 11 are axially disposed in a brass tube 10 and are electrically connected in series by sprayed contact bridges 13, 14 to which are soldered dished annular rings 16, 15 having respective peripheral flanges 161, 15<SP>1</SP> which are soldered together; a resilient washer 17 being disposed between each pair of rings. The uppermost ring 15 is electrically connected through the assembly lid 19 to the tube 10 which thereby constitutes one terminal of the capacitor. The lowest ring 16 is soldered to a disc 21 constituting a second terminal of the capacitor, and a terminal cap 32 is connected thereto by metal tubes 27, 29. The capacitor elements 11 are insulated from the inner 27 and outer 10 tubes by layers 26, 12 of tri-acetate foil.
