Abstract

The body of a container is formed from a spirally wound strip 11 of transparent material combined with a similar strip 14 of an opaque material, or a transparent material having printed matter thereon, arranged outside the strip 11 to cover adjacent edges thereof, the interior of the body being smooth. The strip 14 may be of cardboard or an opaque plastics material, and the edges of the strip 11 may either abut, as shown in Fig. 1, or be spaced apart as in Fig. 3, in which case the gap is filled by a strip 18 of opaque material. A rigid end piece 15 is secured to the completed cylindrical strip ; and a sealing layer of wax or metal foil may cover surfaces of the opaque material otherwise exposed to the interior of the body.
