Abstract

854,258. Slicing machines. MAATSCHAPPIJ VAN BERKEL'S PATENT N.V. Oct. 24, 1956 [Dec. 7, 1955]. No. 35066/55. Class 28 (2). The slice thickness gauge plate 11 is adjusted by a handwheel 37 which operates in unison three cranks supporting the plate, one crank 20 being attached to the plate near its top corner near the knife 10 and the other cranks 21 and 22 being attached near the bottom. The gauge plate 11 is provided with a spaced back plate 12, the cranks being accommodated in the space. The cranks 20 and 21 are coupled to operate together by a shaft 23. On turning the handwheel 37 a scroll cam groove 51 Fig. 2, moves a slider 40 to which are coupled the cranks 21 and 22 whereby the plate is moved backwards away from the knife 10 and also sideways from the plane of the knife. Such movement gives uniform backward movement but an increasing rate of sideways displacement. The plate 11 is provided at its lower part with a ledge 13 and a downturn 14 to prevent scraps falling on the mechanism. The frame is provided with an overhanging backward superstructure 16 with an undergroove to guide an extension on the substance carrier 9.
