Abstract

Means for sterilising the water in a bottle forming part of a vehicle windscreen washing apparatus, consists of a voltaic couple which can be inserted in the bottle or combined with a pump p contained in the bottle, the couple comprising at least one metal capable of producing ions poisonous to micro-organisms. Preferably it is in the form of wire gauze made from copper and silver, copper and nickel, copper and silver-plated copper wire or copper gauze silver plated on one side by electrodeposition or by a vacuum-vapour process. The couple may be adapted to be combined with a pump contained in the bottle and to serve also as a filter.
