Abstract

854,074. Transferring freight containers to and from vehicles. PENMAN, J. S. June 16, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 21061/58. Class 78 (4). A load container 11 of the type which is lifted from a vehicle carrying it by rollers 12 which engage fixed ramps at the loading station, has flaps which can be allowed to fall from the position shown to a downwardly sloping position in which they engage portions of the platform of the carrier vehicle to couple the container for movement along the ramp by the vehicle. The flaps 17 can be moved to the retracted position shown by handles 19 working in guides 21. Catches 22 for locking the arms 19 are provided on both sides of the vehicle and the catches at opposite sides are released simultaneously by manipulating a handle.
