Abstract

854,056. Mosaic photography. FOREIGN DIETERICH CORPORATION. Oct. 3, 1957 [Oct. 31, 1956], No. 31039/57. Classes 97(1) and 98(1) Apparatus for carrying out mosaic photography includes two cameras, one arranged for viewing its section of the scene directly and the other for viewing its section by reflection in a mirror, the latter camera comprising a housing supporting an axially movable lens assembly and movable transversely to the lens axis on a supporting framework so that the position of the lens assembly may be adjusted to make both cameras view the scene as from a single point irrespective of the range at which they are focused. As shown in Fig. 2 three cameras A, B and C are axially movable on guideways 16 on a table 2, the camera B recording directly and cameras A and C recording by reflection in mirrors 20. The diaphragm settings of the three cameras are effected simultaneously by rotation of a shaft 154, driving shafts 158, 160 which operate the diaphragms through magnetic couplings which may be disengaged to allow movement of the cameras along the guideways 16. To permit the transverse movement of cameras A and C each is mounted on a frame 86 (Fig. 4) to which it is linked by a micrometer screw 88 rotated by a shaft 96 driven by suitable servo mechanism to move the cameras simultaneously. Each objective 46, Fig. 4 is mounted on a sliding member 84 attached to an insulating plate 76 carried by resilient members 80 connected to the camera base 68. The insulating plate 76 carries a coil 82 located between the pole pieces 66, 72 of a magnet so that passage of an electric current through the coil causes sliding movement of the member 84 and so adjusts the focus of the lens 46. By this means the focus of the three cameras may be adjusted simultaneously.
