Class 130 Sextuple-length filter rods 2 delivered from a hopper 1 to a grooved drum 4 are cut thereon by knives 7 into double filter lengths which are ejected by a cam-operated three-pronged lever 16, through a cut-out 24 in a rotary cam sleeve 20, on to a stationary channel 19 from which an interrupted helical camming edge of the sleeve 20 feeds them successively at intervals to inddividual grooves of a drum 21 from which strippers 28 deliver them between cigarettes on a drum 27. The assembly may be modified to deal with octuple-length filter rods. The knives 7 may be pivoted out of action about an axis 13.
