Abstract

Phenthiazine derivatives of the general formula : <FORM:0853633/IV(b)/1> (wherein R1 and R2 represent identical or different alkyl groups or form with the nitrogen atom a heterocyclic ring other than piperazine, and X represents a straight or branched aliphatic chain), and salts thereof, are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula : <FORM:0853633/IV(b)/2> (wherein M represents an alkali metal atom) with a compound of the general formula : <FORM:0853633/IV(b)/3> (wherein Z represents an organic sulphonyloxy group). Sulphonyloxyamines of the general formula III above, in which Z represents a methanesulphonyloxy or p-toluenesulphonyloxy group, are prepared by the action of mesyl chloride or tosyl chloride on the appropriate amino alcohol, e.g. g -dimethylaminopropanol, b -hydroxyethylpiperidine, or g -hydroxypropyl-or b -hydroxyisopropylmorpholine.
