Abstract

853,432. Distribution systems. SQUARE D CO. July 2, 1958 [Sept. 3, 1957], No. 21145/58 Class 38(1) An adjustable connector for sections of a busbar duct system comprises outer end casings 5, 6 which enclose the ends of the duct sections 2, 3 to be connected and which telescope within a central casing 4, each casing being formed in two halves which are clamped together by bolts. The bus-bars, which are in the form of flat conductors, such as 21, 22, insulated by flat separators 25 have off-set terminal portions such as 31, 32, each formed with a number of apertures for the reception of bolts whereby L-shaped coupling members 33 or 41 may be clamped thereto. The coupling members of complementary bus-bars in adjacent sections are connected by pairs of bars 37, 38, or 44, 45 which bars are formed with holes 39, 46, appropriate ones of which are used according to the length of the gap to be bridged by the bars. In making a connection; the ends of the ducts are first connected by channel-shaped members, not shown, also formed with a number of holes to enable the effective length to be adjusted. The connections between the bus-bars are then made and finally the casings 5, 6 and 4 are applied to the joint. These casings are provided with insulating linings.
