In a method of securing a thermoplastic lens 1 in the window of a lamp cas ing 2, the lens is provide( with a shouldered rim 17 which is inserted in the window 18 in the casing so that the shoulder abuts the edge 19 of the window frame, the rim is render ed temporarily plastic by heating and pressed outwardly into engagement with the inner side of the window frame. For rendering the rim plastic an electrically heated tool of suitable shape is used. A sealing washer may be inserted between the shoulder of the lens and the edge of the window frame.
