Abstract
852,700. Annular drills. SOC. ANGESA R.L. Feb. 21, 1958 [Feb. 12, 1958], No. 5803/58. Class 83 (3). In an annular cutter, circular band-saw sections 6, 6<1>, &c. are held in a holder 1 having a shank 2 for adjustably mounting a drill 3 therein. The saws, which engage annular slots 5 in the holder and are secured thereto by a radial screw passing through holes 7<1>, Fig. 4, are interrupted at 7 to allow escape of cuttings. The drill, lockable by a screw 4 in the shank 2, slidably supports a collar 11 pressed axially forwards by a spring 10. In use, the drill enters the work to act as a centre and guide for the sawing operation. The saws may be used independently or in combination, and in the latter case, all the slots 7 are aligned to provide a radial slot for the escape of cuttings by centrifugal action. The collar 11, engaging the work, compresses the spring 10, which finally ejects the cut-out disc. Alternative means for spacing and locking the cutters may be used, such as removable annular spacers.
