Abstract

873,505. Trepanning tools. UNITED KING- DOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. April 25, 1960 [May 13, 1959], No. 16501/59. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A trepanning tool particularly for producing graphite test covers, comprises a hollow bar 1 having a cutting tool 4 brazed in a recess 5, a wire 10 connected to a lever 11, located in a slot 7 bridged at 8 passing through holes 9, 12 is anchored at 14, thus forming a loop in the wire. In operation, the work or tool is rotated and the tool forms an annular recess in the work. When the tool reaches the required depth, the lever is actuated and a core is parted off from the work by the wire 10. For a rotary tool, the lever 11 is connected to a component rotating with the tool. Compressed air is supplied at 3 to expel dust from the tool.
