Class 29 A refrigerator has a top opening bounded by a heat insulating frame 30, preferably of plastic, and is closed by a cover 23 formed of outer plate and inner lining, the marginal edges of which are formed by directly sealing together the plate and lining, the frame being formed with a supporting and sealing element 22 for the cover located a distance from the top surface of the refrigerator equal to the combined thicknesses of the plate and lining of the cover. In this way the temperature at the sealing interface between the cover 23 and frame 30 will be close to that of ambient air and moisture condensation obviated.
