Abstract

851,284. Lantern slides. PATERSON, D. M. April 8, 1959 [June 27, 1958], No. 20756/58. Class 98(2) [Also in Group XV] A slide as for photographic transparencies comprises a frame housing two superimposed sheets of light transmitting material, at least one of which is clear, the margins of the frame overlapping said superimposed sheets on both faces thereof, a portion of at least two opposite margins of the said frame on the same face being deformed towards the other face of the frame and said portions being of resilient material, whereby said portions bear on said superimposed sheets and gently press them together, and one side element of the frame being openable for the insertion of a transparency between the said sheets. In the embodiment shown the slide has plastic sheets 1, 2 apertured at 3 and spaced apart by side walls 4, elements 1, 2, 4 being integral, and the fourth side is provided by member 5 pivoted at 6 by which a transparency 14 between glass sheets 10, 11 may be inserted, when deformed or bowed portions 12, 13 of sheet 1 hold transparency and glass sheets firmly in position. The slide may, however, be of metal.
