Abstract

851,240. Earth-excavating machines. RUSH, H. M., and CLEMENTS, S. K. March 4, 1958, No. 6830/58. Class 68(1). [Also in Group XXX]. A support 30 (Figs. 2 and 3) for a jib 34 is carried by rams 50, 52 which serve to level it. In the vehicle-mounted crane illustrated the rams are mounted between pivots 62 on the rear axle of the vehicle and pivots 56 on a yoke 34 carried by the member 30 which is pivoted at 26 to the platform 8 of the vehicle. A further ram 36 controls the inclination of the member 30 about the pivot 26 and liquid for feeding the rams is contained within the member 30. Valves controlling the rams 50, 52 may be caused to power them, to leave them free to move with the springs 12 of the vehicle, or to lock them against displacement.
