Abstract
850,805. Suction tubes for thread end-catchers. THOMA CO. G.m.b.H. June 27, 1957 [July 2, 1956], No. 20380/57. Class 120(2). A suction tube for devices for sucking up broken thread ends in spinning machines is constituted by a tube comprising a main duct of partly rounded cross-. section joined to a narrow apertured duct whose width at any point is not greater than its width at the junction with the main duct, and whose height is more than twice its width at the junction with the main duct, the mean width of the main duct being more than twice the mean width of the apertured duct, so that a rotary flow of air screws in the main duct whereas a stream of air flows in the apertured duct. As shown in Fig. 4, one wall of the apertured duct merges tergentially into the main duct, which is circular or oval. In a second embodiment, the main duct and apertured duct have plane side walls and are inclined to each other at an obtuse angle, the plane walls of the main duct merging into an arcuate wall. In a further embodiment the apertured duct has plane side walls which diverge slightly towards a circular cylindrical main duct.
