Abstract

Modified polyamides are made by adding N,N1-phosphorylated diamines of the general formula (RO)2P(O)HNR1NHP(O)(OR)2 to diamine-dicarboxylic acid salts prior to condensation, where R is alkyl, aryl or chlorine substituted alkyl and R1 is alkylene or arylene. In the examples, modified polyamides are made from hexamethylene diammonium adipate and (1) and (2) hexamethylene diamione-N-,N1-bis-phosphoric acid diethyl ester, (3) and (4) hexamethy-lene diamine -N,N1-bis-phosphoric acid -dichloroethyl ester.
