Abstract

850,639. Hydraulic actuators. GREER HYDRAULICS Inc. Oct. 13, 1958 [Nov. 22, 1957], No. 32622/58. Class 69 (2). An hydraulic actuation comprises a screw-shaft 57 which is connected for relative rotation thereof to the rod 15 of a piston 13 in a cylinder 11, and drive means 62, 93 operatively connecting the screw-shaft to an output shaft 92 to rotate the latter an amount proportional to the linear movement of the piston. The ends of the cylinder are provided with ports 101, 102 for the supply and exhaust of hydraulic fluid which causes linear movement of the piston and rod relative to the cylinder, the cylinder and rod being provided with blocks 127 for connection to the fuselage and wing-flap, respectively, of an aircraft. The linear movement of the piston is converted by a ball connector 53 to a rotary movement of the screw-shaft which is supported in a bearing 63 in the cylinder and a cup 107 slidable in the rod 15 and is connected by bevel gears 62, 93 to the output shaft 92 which, in turn, is connected by a cable to an indicator.
