Class 137 An aircraft air conditioning system comprises a simulator connected in the system similarly to compartments to be conditioned, the simulator comprising a body subjected to air flow similar to the compartments and having heating means to simulate the heating of the compartments resulting in a temperature of the body comparable to that of the compartments and means responsive to the temperature of the body for operating the temperature controlling means for the compartments. As shown, a space 12 heated by air from a conduit 10 has two compartments 14 and a simulator 30, the simulator and the compartments being subjected to air flow from the space 12. The simulator may comprise a block 32 having holes 34 for the passage of air and holes 36 to accommodate heating elements 38 which elements heat the block at same rate as that at which the compartments are heated. Electric resistance elements 42, sensitive to the temperature, form part of a bridge circuit in an amplifier 44 and any unbalance in the bridge is used to operate control valves 22 and 24 to supply cold or hot air respectively to the space 12.
