Abstract

849,722. Centrifugal strainer separators ; filters. MILLSPAUGH Ltd. June 13, 1959, No. 20320/59. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVI] Pulp introduced at 29 to a pulp-screen casing 10, Fig. 1, is conveyed axially through an opening 26 to a centrifugal impeller consisting of a disc 25 and integral with vanes 24 carried by a sleeve 17 which is secured to a drive-shaft 12. The pulp is ejected by the impeller through space 45, Fig. 3, between circumferentially-fixed but angularly-adjustable guide vanes 30 located upstream of the disc 25 and around the vanes 24. The vanes 30 may be adjusted simultaneously by a hand wheel 44, Fig. 1, through a peripheripherally-notched ring 34 and pins and cranks, to vary the rate of flow of pulp to the interior of screen 19, within which rotate radial vanes 18 also carried by the sleeve 17. Diluting water may be introduced at 22, 23 ; screened pulp and residue plus water are discharged at 47 and 48 respectively.
