Abstract

849,639. Packages. RODNON, D. May 22, 1958 [June 14, 1957], No. 16486/58. Class 94(1). A package for cigars &c. comprises cells for individual articles formed by heat sealing on enclosing wrapping between them, tearing means being arranged between the cells so that individual cells may be separated from the package and opened in one operation. The package may be formed from a sheet folded to tubular form about the articles, its edges being overlapped and sealed, as shown in Fig. 3, the tube sides then being joined by heat sealing between the articles. Alternatively, two separate sheets 36, 38 may be used. Tear tapes E1-E5, F1-F5, previously attached to the inner surface of the sheets, run along top and bottom margins of each cell and when pulled, sever the material adjacent the separating seams. A cardboard protector E may be secured to a margin of the package, creases 34 enabling it to be folded round the remainder of the package after part has been removed. Alternatively, parts of the protector may be torn off..The package may be coiled for insertion in a suitable receptacle.
