The cutter chain on a auxiliary jib 11 supported by a main jib 10 acts in the same direction as the cutter chain of the main jib since a drive is taken from the chain-driven, outer, idler sprocket of the main jib through a gear wheel 40 to the inner sprocket wheel 31 of the auxiliary jib. The chain guide at the outer end of the auxiliary jib can be adjusted longitudinally of the jib to allow of tensioning of the chain of said jib, which is preferably positioned below and is of shorter length than the main jib of the machine, which is supported on a conveyer.
