Abstract
849,354. Band-pass filters. ALADDIN INDUSTRIES Inc. Feb. 24, 1958 [June 12, 1957], No. 5908/58. Class 40(8). [Also in Group XXXV, XXXVI and XL(c)] In a television receiver using a tuner described in Group XXXVI, the anode circuit of a radio frequency amplifier 22 and the grid circuit of a mixer 23 are tuned by coils 4 and self capacitance of coils and valves. This arrangement provides a band-pass filter, the centre frequency of which is tunable over the television band by vertical movement of conducting sleeves 11. Trimming inductors 27, 33 are provided. The coils 4 are coupled by mutual inductance and stray capacitance, additional coupling being provided at low frequencies by a loop 40 having one or more turns. A common impedance coupling is provided by the series circuit 36, 37 tuned to a frequency above the tuning range and capacitively coupled to each coil via fixed sleeves 14 and the movable sleeves 11. The inductor 37 may be omitted. The band width is made constant at high frequencies by the shielding effect of the movable sleeve 11 as it becomes interposed between the coils 4 and the loop 40.
