Abstract

1,003,288. Transistor high-frequency amplifyirig and mixer circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. May 23, 1962 [June 2, 1961], No. 19747/62. Heading H3T. In a transistor high-frequency amplifier or mixer stage capable of being tuned over a wide range of frequencies, the input electrode of the transistor is coupled to the output of a preceding oscillatory circuit or band-pass filter by means of a series inductance whose reactance is small at the lower end of the range of frequencies over which the circuit is operative and greater at the higher end of the range so as to maintain the input impedance presented by the transistor to the oscillatory circuit or band-pass filter substantially constant over the whole frequency range. As shown in a mixer stage for a television receiver covering both bands I and III, radiofrequency tuning coils 1, 3 may either be permeability-tuned or switched-tuned to enable the circuit to cover the entire frequency band. At the upper end of the frequency band the transistor presents a low input impedance at its emitter; however, by means of inductor 7 the load presented to the output of the bandpass filter remains substantially constant so enabling the desired bandwidth in the filter to be maintained. The circuit is not limited to the grounded-base configuration shown.
