Abstract

848,943. Filing papers. SHUNIC Ltd. Jan: 6, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1955], No. 1211/58. Class 146(1). A rotary card-wheel comprising a drum 4, mounted on a fixed shaft 3 and having end flanges 6, and retaining members 9, one associated with each flange, which are rotatable about axes out of alignment with the shaft 3, so that they are clear of cards filed between the flanges at the upper part of the wheel but overlie them in the lower part. The retaining members 9 having inturned card-retaining rims 11, are mounted on collars 10A, the axes of the outer surfaces of which are out of alignment and carry fingers 12 engaged in holes in the end walls of the drum thus causing the retaining members and drum to rotate together. A braking mechanism is provided consisting of a disc 18 urged by springs 19, encircling pins 16, into engagement with an annulus 20 secured to the drum wall, the pins 16 passing through holes in a circular plate 15 rigidly secured to the fixed shaft 3. The wheel is mounted on a stand 2 and its periphery is divided into compartments by partitions 8.
