Abstract

848,698. Blinds. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. Dec. 10, 1956 [Dec. 9, 1955]; No. 37715/56. Class 20(3) The convexed slats 10 of a venetian blind have notches 15 on the edges which are lowermost when the blind is "closed," the rungs 11 of the tape ladder, which pass through the notches, being formed to prevent the slats when "closed" from dropping into the junctions of the rungs and the corresponding side tape. The convex surfaces of the "closed" slats are thus prevented from contacting with, and, in effect, shortening, the adjacent side tapes, relatively the other side tapes, by bulging them out at intervals. The ladders are preferably of plastic, the rungs 11 each comprising end portions 22 which are welded or otherwise attached to the side tapes, the end portions 22 being wider than the main part 24 of the run. The left cord 13 passes through a slot 16 in the slat and through a slot 28 in the rung. The shoulders 26 on the rung are engaged when the blind is "closed", by the ends of the notch 15 and the slat is prevented from dropping into contact with the tape.
