Abstract
848,490. Endless-chain conveyers. KING Ltd., G. W. April 14, 1959 [April 25, 1958], No. 13247/58. Class 78 (1). In conveyers of the kind wherein load carriers rest directly on, and are driven by frictional engagement with, an endless driving chain and may be stopped without interfering with the travel of the chain, the chain 17 is caused to follow a descending path between the points A, B wherein is situated the junction with a branch, or dead-line, track 18, Fig. 4, and a deflector 19, Fig. 5, is provided at the junction which is movable into and out of an operative position wherein it will lie in the path of a load carrier and divert it to the branch. The deflector 19 is pivoted at 20 and its free end is connected to the plunger 21 of a solenoid 22, or pneumatically or hydraulically actuated thruster device. The deflector may be manually actuated, or operated automatically by keys on the load carriers which can be set to actuate a finger, or contact, controlling the action of the actuating mechanism of a particular deflector.
