Abstract

847,563. Filter clogging indicators. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Oct. 20, 1958 [Dec. 9, 1957], No. 33438/58. Class 46. On differential pressure rise due only to high viscosity of cold oil, a piston 44 is forced to the left against a spring 48, the end 46 withdrawing from a slot 40 in an upwardly-urged indicator 38. The indicator is retained in the invisible position, however, by an extension 68, of a bimetallic temperature-sensitive element 64, Fig. 2, which engages the slot (position "A"). On clogging of the filter at normal working temperatures (position "B", outside the slot, for extension 68), withdrawal of the piston 44 permits upward movement of indicator 38. It remains in this position until pushed back. A fluted by-pass valve 29 is provided.
