Abstract
846,749. Separating liquid particles from air. NOBLE, H. R. W., and NOBLE Ltd., H. R. June 7, 1957, No. 18218/57. Class 123(3) In a spray booth equipment 9 air contaminated with spray discharges through a vertical orifice 9a over which travels an eliminator screen the spray particles being removed as the direction of the air is abruptly changed in its passage through the screen. The cleaned air flows into a compartment 14 ,and thence to a stack 17 through a secondary eliminator 18. The screen consists of a carrier chain conveyer 1 each link of which carries deflecting plates 2 of flanged trough shape which together form air-cleaning cells 3 having deflection surfaces 4...7 relatively inclined to each other on which the spray particles deposit. The chain passes over sprockets 10, 11 and a curved channel 12, the lower horizontal leg of the chain loop passing through a trough 13 which contains a solvent for the deposit on the plates 2. The trough may be heated by coils 15 and there may be a radiant heat panel 16 above the trough.
