Abstract

846,451. Mops, holders for mops. CALLAWAY MILLS CO. Jan. 8, 1959 [Nov. 25, 1958], No. 738/59. Classes 19 and 61. The wire wings 12, 22 by which a mop cloth 6 is mounted at the bottom of a long handle 37 are normally locked together by the cranked portions 30, 31 of the arms 24, 27 of the U- shaped wing 22 being forced by springs 40, 41 beneath the upwardly cranked portions 19, 20 of arms 14, 16 of the rectangular wing 12, the wings 12, 22 being pivotally mounted on a transverse shaft 21 secured to the end of the handle 37. The ends 33, 35 of the arms of the U-shaped wing 22 are bent upwards to allow of gripping and application of inwardly directed pressure by the fingers of the user of the mop so that the portions 31 clear the arms 14. 16 of the wing 12 to allow the wings to swing towards one another and the mop cloth to slip off the supporting frame of the mop head. The handle socket is pivotally secured by a pin 39 at right angles to the axis of rotation of a clip 36 about the shaft 21.
