[Class 19] A mop fitted with a wringing device comprises a head, a socket member fixed to said head and adopted to receive and hold a mop handle, a swab on said head, a wringer device comprising a wringer or presser plate swingably supported along one side of the head, and a resilient catch member on said socket member adapted to releasably but positively snap over the outer edge of the plate when the presser element is swung close to the socket member. As shown, a mop head, plate 1, has fixed thereto a socket member 2 secured to a mop handle 3 and also a removably secured swab 6 of cellulose cellular material or other suitable material. The plate 1 has an inturned flange 12 along one edge and a hollow bead 13 formed along the opposite edge. A wire rod 17 is mounted in the bead 13 with bent ends 18 which pass through the hollow of the overturned bead 19 of a wringer plate 20 so swing- ably supporting said plate. The swab 6 is fixed to a backing 7 of textile or other suitable material having a flexible flange member. 9 provided with a loop which, with a rod 11 therein, is slid into the groove of flange 12, the backing 7 also having a looped flange member 8 with a rod 10 therein which is passed over bead 13 and gripped by hooped ends 14 of a resilient holding member 15 which has a snap member 16 embracing the flange 12. In order to hold the wringer plate in the closed position shown in broken lines in Fig. 1, a resilient catch member is provided, preferably of bent wire, comprising a looped end catch 22 extending laterally of socket member 2 and having leg portions 25, 26 passing into the end of the socket member, then outwardly through hole means 29, 30 and thence forwardly along the outside of the members being finally secured thereto, suitably by means of hooked ends engaging a recess 27; positioning grooves 31 and 32 are also provided. The end catch 22 has a depression 23 which releasably receives the outer free edge 24 of the presser plate when the latter is in the closed position.
