Abstract
845,738. Mono-rail locomotives. ROAD MACHINES (DRAYTON) Ltd. April 6, 1959 [March 18, 1958], No. 8575/58. Classes 79(1) and 79(2) A mono-rail vehicle is driven by hydraulic motors from a pump operated by a prime mover, the forward, reverse and neutral operations of the motors being determined by a valve a, for example as described in specification 845,737, the valve being operated by a rocking quadrant b pivoted at b<SP>1</SP> and biased towards a neutral position, (Fig. 1). Neutral-bias springs are also provided in the valve a. The quadrant may be rocked by a handle b<SP>4</SP> to/put the valve in the forward or reverse position and may be held in this position by_ engagement of a spring loaded pin c<SP>1</SP> with one or other of the shoulders b<SP>5</SP> or b<SP>6</SP>. A laterally projecting lug c<SP>5</SP> from the pin c<SP>1</SP> may be engaged by a lever d by which the pin c<SP>1</SP> may be disengaged from the quadrant by the driver of the vehicle. The lever d may be engaged by a double cam e' upon a transverse shaft rotatable by means of levers e at the sides of the vehicle and biased by gravity to normally hang in a vertical position, to enable a person at the side of the rail to disengage the pin c<SP>1</SP>. The pin may also be disengaged by cooperation of stops provided at the side of the rail with a member h' through the links h g and c. The handles e and cam e<SP>1</SP> may be put in a position whereby the pin c<SP>1</SP> is permanently disengaged from the quadrant, permitting positive control of the quadrant by the lever b<SP>4</SP>.
