Abstract

A binder material for non-woven fibrous structures is derived from a water-insoluble linear polymer of monoethylenically unsaturated monomeric units comprising at least 3% by weight of units, containing amino groups, either in their free amine form or in their salt form or quatemary ammonium salt groups. Examples describe the preparation of copolymers by emulsion polymerisation of (a) n-butyl acrylate and 2-amino-ethyl vinyl ether in the presence of an ethylene oxide condensation product of an octyl phenal; and (b) ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate and 4-vinyl-pyridine in the presence of sodium lauryl sulphate and an ethylene oxide condensation product of an octyl phenol.
