Abstract

845,011. Copy-turning lathe &c. drivers. SCHONDORFF, A. Jan. 21, 1957 [Jan. 21, 1956], No. 2098/57. Class 83 (3). A method of reconditioning the tyres and commutator on a railway vehicle consists in driving the vehicle over a pit below a gap in the rails, imparting rotation to the wheels by friction, and trueing the parts by cutting means 16 raised into position. The wheels 2 are rotated by rollers 3, 4, driven by a motor 11 on beams 12 raised by an hydraulic jack 14 against the pressure of the wheel suspension. The tool 16 is controlled manually by hand wheels 17, 18, or automatically by copying-equipment. For machining the commutator 22, Fig. 3, a tool holder 26 is mounted on the motor casing 24 and is controlled from the pit, or from the motor compartment.
