Abstract
844,494. Electric de-misters. BACKER ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 10, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958], No. 5486/58. Class 39(3). An electric de-mister for windows comprises a tubular shield of openwork metal sheet, formed with two flanges secured between a clip running lengthwise of the shield, and a resistance element of the tubular sheathed metal type. As shown, a tubular shield 1 of expanded metal, e.g. aluminium, is closed at one end by a cap 6 and at the other end by an apertured cap 8 and has along the length of its underside two flanges 2 fitting against each other and secured inside a sheet metal clip 3. A tubular metal sheath resistance element 16 within the shield is bent downwardly towards one end, as at 17, so as to be supported locally by the bottom of the shield, and is supported at its other end 15 by the apertured inner end 14 of a socket housing 10 secured to the cap 8. The element is connected electrically to a socket 18 which is located within the housing 10 and which receives a three-pin plug connected to a supply cable 32. Spring clips 4 grip the clip 3 and support the de-mister at the base of a window 25. A deflector 27 may be provided to direct heated air forwardly and upwardly as shown by the arrows 31.
