A hand-tool W, Fig. 4, for wedging a rope R in the eye of a hook H, comprises a handle 1, Fig. 2, with a wedge-shaped-end 6 convex on its upper-surface to fit in the eye, and grooved on its underface 5 to receive the rope. The underface may be serrated or indented, e.g. with an impression of the rope.
