Abstract
842,106. Making ingots. UDDEHOLMS A.B. Nov. 26, 1956 [Dec. 1, 1955], No. 36077/56. Classes 83 (1) and 83 (2). An ingot to be hot-rolled is cast in a mould having a hot-top above a bevelled portion 2 making an angle of 20-55 degrees with the axis of the ingot, the ratio of the cross-sectional areas, at the top and bottom of the bevelled portion, being between 25: 100 and 64: 100. The bevel may be of any shape and may be on one side only of the ingot. The bevel may be formed in the mould by a collapsible template, as described in Specification 778,039.
