Abstract

841,533. Nuclear reactors. DIEBNER, K. Nov. 16, 1956 [Nov. 18, 1955], No. 35067/56. Class 39(4). A nuclear reactor is cooled by mercury, and gas or another vapour is circulated with the mercury vapour to provide better heat transfer at lower temperatures at which the mercury vapour pressure is too low to afford effective cooling. The mercury vapour with the other vapour or gas (e.g. argon or nitrogen) passes through a heat exchanger where the mercury may or may not condense.
