Abstract
841,039. Heating gases by arcs. KNAPSACK-GRIESHEIM A. G. July 31, 1958 [Aug. 9, 1957], No. 24766/58. Class 39(3). [Also in Group XXVIII] A gas heating and moving apparatus comprises a chamber-forming casing 2, 10 into which projects at least two single or polyphane graphite electrodes 30 each surrounded by an annular gas fired channel 22 ; the heated gas being exhausted through an axial outlet passage of the chamber 4. An additional gas inlet comprises a duct 8 leading to an annular channel 6 and slot 7 formed between the casing body 2 and its flanged base 10. The body 2 has a cooling channel 3 through which inlet gas may pass and a heat insulating cooling 40. The incoming gas may be diffused by sintered porous material in channels 22, 6 and may be interrupted by a shut-off device responsive to the frequency of the electric current supply.
