Abstract
840,749. Magnetic storage devices; magnetic compositions. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. April 18, 1957 [April 27, 1956], No. 12718/57. Class 38 (2). A magnetic device for storage or similar purposes comprises a magnetic core A 1 having a moderately rectangular hysteresis loop C 1 and a core A 2 having a "round" hysteresis loop C 4 which are associated with input windings n 1 , n 2 in series or parallel and output windings N 1 , N 2 in series opposition such that the combination exhibits a very square hysteresis loop C 2 . Over-compensation C 3 is also shown. The resultant loop is dependent upon the materials and dimensions of the cores, and the numbers of turns of the windings. The use of two cores having different temperature coefficients of inductance provides an arrangement wherein this coefficient for the combination is small. The core A 1 may be a ferrite containing oxides of Fe and some of the metals Mn, Cu, Al, and Ni, or a ferro-nickel alloy tape. The core A 2 may be a ferrite including oxides of metals from the group Mn, Zn and Ni and may be produced by grinding the mixture in distilled water, drying, shaping under a pressure of 1-10 tons/cm.<SP>2</SP> sintering at 1100-1400‹ C. and cooling in atmospheres of N 2 , O 2 or O 2 and N 2 .
