Abstract

840,266. Weighing apparatus. HARPER & CO. Ltd., J., and KIBBLE, G. Oct. 21, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957], No. 33171/57. Class 143 [Also in Group XXXIV] Domestic beam-type weighing scales comprise a weighing platform 20, upon which the scale pan 21 rests, supported by oppositely directed weighing levers 22 which are pivotally suspended by links 23 at their outer ends and are interconnected by a pivotal link 24. One of the weighing levers 22 is also connected by a pivotal link 25 with a weigh beam 26 which is adapted to tilt, under the load to be weighed, about a transverse knife-edge 27 engaged at its ends in V-notched bearing blocks 28 fixed in the side walls of the casing 29. The ends of the weigh beam 26 are connected by an external frame 30 along which counterweights 31 and 32 are adjustable. Attached to the underside of the platform 20 are supporting legs 36 having mounted upon the lower portion of each an inverted V-shaped bearing 37 of hardened steel wire adapted to engage knife-edges 39 on the weighing levers 22 (see Group XXXIV).
