Abstract

840,084. Pulse code modulation. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. (Nippon Electric Co. Ltd.). Jan. 23, 1959, No. 2565/59. Class 40 (5). In a delta-modulation decoding arrangement means are provided for deriving from each group of code pulses containing an uninterrupted succession of code pulses a rectangular pulse of duration corresponding to the number of pulses in the group, and for integrating the rectangular pulses in such a manner to produce a wave consisting of substantially linear portions which slope alternately in opposite directions. Pulses a<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5, after clipping by rectifier 17, are applied to condenser 20 in the grid circuit of one valve 21 of a triggered pair (Schmitt circuit) 21, 22, and produce on the grid a voltage f, E 1 being the standing bias, and E o the point at which tube 21 becomes conductive. Rectangular pulses d having a duration corresponding to the number of pulses in a group, are taken from the anode of valve 22 and produce wave-shape e after integration in network 23, 24.
