Abstract
838,837. Dental mirrors. O'HARA, S. E. Sept. 10, 1958 [May 12, 1958; Aug. 29, 1958], No. 29086/68. Class 81 (2). An antifogging device for a dental mirror comprises an air distributing housing 3 having an arcuate forward wall 7 adapted to extend around and above part, preferably at least 1/3 and less than ¢, of the periphery of a mirror 2 having a reflecting surface 2a, the housing having a chamber 16 therein and air outlet means, such as passages 17, in the wall 7 communicating with the chamber 16 and means for supplying air to the chamber 16 to cause air to flow through the outlets over the surface 2a. As shown in Fig. 1, air is supplied through a bore 21 in the handle 20 and shank 9, the mirror 2 is located against a shoulder 10 and supported by a clip 4, the ends 11 of which are anchored in the housing 3. In a modification, Fig. 6, the frame 49 of the mirror 48 is removably held in a groove 58 formed in the front wall 55 of the housing 46 and arcuate continuations 57 thereof and the air outlets may be holes 56 as shown or a slit extending across the wall 55. Alternatively, Fig. 3, the device may be detachably mounted on a conventional dental mirror by means of a clip 40 with arms 42 which support the mirror 24. The air supply means comprise a flexible tube 44 and stem 28.
