Abstract

838,493. Electric analogue calculating- apparatus. DECCA RECORD CO. Ltd. Oct. 8, 1956 [July 7, 1955], No. 19737/55. Class 37. [Also in Group XL (c)] The envelope of a pulse-modulated carrier is effectively differentiated by arranging that the frequency response of a carrier amplifier increases as the separation from the carrier frequency increases on at least one side of the carrier. In the pulse radar receiver shown, the I.F. amplifier includes two parallel amplifiers 14, 16 tuned respectively to frequencies on opposite sides of the carrier and such that the response increases by 6 Db. per octave as the separation from the carrier increases and such that the time delay for all frequencies is equal. A further amplifier 15 selects the carrier and supplies it to a demodulator 18 in sufficient amplitude to ensure undistorted demodulation. A single double-tuned amplifier could replace the amplifiers 14 and 16.
