Abstract
837,668. Floating storage tanks. LLAURADO, L. E. Nov. 26, 1958 [Dec. 17, 1957], No. 38041/58. Classes 113 and 114. A floating storage tank for the transport of fluids comprises a flexible frame work of end hoops 2 connected by stays 3, 4 to a haulage cable 1, intermediate hoops 5, internal and external covering 6, 7, hatchways 9 each secured to two intermediate hoops, and ballast weights 13 secured in the tank opposite the hatchways to ensure the latter remaining uppermost when the tank is afloat. The covering comprises sheets of im- 122 permeable canvas with interposed metallic wire net 8. To facilitate towing, rings 14 are spliced at each end of the cable 1 and shock absorbing springs may be included. Shackles 15 enable a train of tanks to be formed and towed by a ship.
